Always known as Rose, she was my mother. She married my father, Reginald Deedman, at St Luke's Church in Winton,
Bournemouth, as her family was living in that parish. Her mother was already dead then, a victim of
tuberculosis. Of the four children of Albert and Amy, only Rose and her brother Ted survived to anything
like old age - her elder sister May (Isobel) died in her thirties and her younger sister, Margaret, in her
teens.
After my father died, from a stroke at the age of 63, Rose lived for a further ten years until her death in
1984, which was attended by her three sons and my wife, Jill.
